Dhul Hijjah 30, 1442h as of August 9, 20212

The moon of Muharram was not sighted on Sunday, August 8, 2021, therefore, it is decided to complete 30 days of Dhul Hijjah and start the month of Muharram from Tuesday, August 10, 2021, In Sha' Allah. Accordingly, the day of Ashura will be on Thursday August 19, 2021.

Supreme Court: Today, Tuesday is the first day of Muharram 1443 AH

“Riyadh, August 10, 2021, SPA -- The Supreme Court has announced that today, Tuesday is the first day of Muharram, 1443 AH corresponding to 10th August 2021. It said in its statement that the crescent of the month of Muharram 1443 AH was not sighted on Sunday evening 29/12/1442 AH, there for the Supreme Court decided that Monday 1/1/1443 AH corresponding to 09th August 2021 shall be the completion of the month of Dhu-AlHijjah and Tuesday 2/1/1443 AH is the first day of Muharram according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar. --SPA 00:11 LOCAL TIME 21:11 GMT 0001“

We are very pleased to announce that another organization, Islamic Center of Old Bridge (ICOB) has joined Muslim Center of Middlesex County (MCMC), Muslim Community of New Jersey (MCNJ), Masjid Al-Wali, and Islamic Center of East Brunswick (ICEB) in the ‘Hijri Calendar Committee’. The ‘Hijri Calendar Committee’ will declare the start of the Islamic (Hijri) months based on the agreed upon policy. We pray that Allah Subhanhu wata’la continue to put barakah in this beautiful effort of uniting Muslims living in our communities in the celebration of our blessed occasions and festivals.

With the infinite blessings and mercy of Allah Subhanahu wata'la, we are pleased to announce about an unprecedented show of unity and cooperation between the four local Islamic Centers. In a time, when disagreements and refutations thrive and indulge people, any sign and gesture of unity is a time to celebrate.

Muslim Center of Middlesex County (MCMC), Muslim Community of New Jersey (MCNJ), Masjid Al-Wali, and Islamic Center of East Brunswick (ICEB) have agreed on a unified policy for declaring the start of the Islamic (Hijri) months. 

We have formed a committee, ‘Hijri Calendar Committee’ which will be responsible for making these decisions. 

We pray that Allah Subhanhu wata’la put barakah this beautiful effort of unifying Muslims living in the Central Jersey and surrounding areas in the celebration of these blessed occasions and festivals.
